Forestry Maps

Let MAP GENERATIONS create custom maps for you to use or share with your customers. Here’s what available in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin:  

  1. Base Map.  The base map is a custom letter size map covering approximately one square mile depending on scale. Your company name and logo will be on the top of the page.  The map includes political boundaries and section lines, roads and hydrology.  You choose the scale.
    • 4" equals 1 mile
    • 8" equals 1 mile,  Close up map
    • 1:24000 same scale as a topo map
    • Custom, you choose the scale

  1. Photo Coverage, add photo coverage to the base map.  Digital ortho photos allow you to see what’s actually on the ground.  Forest cover, water features and roads that may not show on the base map. 
    • Michigan’s UP has 1998 near infrared leaf off photos for the entire area.
    • Michigan has 2010 natural color leaf on photos for selected areas. More available all the time. Ask about your area.
    • Wisconsin has 2009 natural color leaf on photos for Florence, Marinette, Forest and Vilas counties. Ask about other counties.

  1. Topology.  Underlay the USGS 24k Topology map and shaded relief to make it easier for you to determine slope and elevation in the area you will be working in.

  1. Soils.  USDA Soil coverage in available for all of Wisconsin.  In Michigan you can get soils for  Baraga, Chippewa, Delta, Houghton, Keweenaw, Luce, Mackinac, Marquette, and Menominee Counties.  Along with the Soils layer you get your choice of soil reports.
    • Forestland Productivity
    • Forestland Site Preparation and Potential Seedling Mortality (MI)
    • Equipment Limitations on Woodland (MI)
    • Forestland Site Preparation (WI)
    • Haul Roads, Log Landings, and Soil Rutting on Forestland (WI)
    • Forestland Planting and Harvesting
    • Not all Forest Reports are available for every county, ask about yours.

  1. National Wetlands Inventory.  Add the NWI layer to your maps to locate Upland, Forested and Non Forested Wetlands.

  1. Customize your maps in anyway you wish.
    • Add Ownership Boundaries, Forty lines or Metes and Bounds.
    • Add GPS data. Ask about transfer options.
    • Stand lines and hatching to designate cut area.
    • What else do you need, don’t hesitate to ask.

Add $ 10.00 or $30 per hour, depending on extent of customization.

You send us your company information, the Section, Township, Range and County of the area you need mapped, also a property description if you want it drawn on the map.   What you get is digital copies of your maps emailed to you.  In the next couple of days you will receive in the mail, high quality prints of the maps.
